The West Point Police Department is dedicated and committed to providing the citizens of West Point with the best possible services available. This can be witnessed by the interaction the police department has developed with the community in which we serve. The department has developed programs which encourage positive interactions with all ages and ethnic backgrounds of the community. The programs that the department offers are vast and helps to build bridges of communication and understanding within the community and as a result, assists in creating a better quality of life for all citizens. For more information regarding any of our community events, you may contact us at 706 Citizens Police Academy (CPA) This is a thirteen-week program designed to give citizens an up close and personal look at the day-to-day operations of the Police Department. This program is currently offered every spring. It’s goal is to educate the public on various aspects of police work within the City of West Point. Each week participants have the opportunity to listen to officers from various divisions in the force relate their duties, the training and experience required for that particular division. Coffee With A Cop Coffee with a Cop is a community outreach program designed to build relationships between command staff and the community. This program gives citizens an opportunity to meet with their Police Chief to talk with him in an one-on-one setting over a cup of coffee. Ministers Day Training This is a program designed for local ministers and their keynote staff in helping to build those relationships and partnerships by providing pastors with valuable resources and relevant training to better serve our church communities. Neighborhood Watch The Neighborhood Watch Program allows for interaction of department members with community leaders and members in a relaxed and informative environment. The West Point Police Department sponsors a neighborhood watch program. It is designed to help to reduce crime in specific neighborhoods by increasing vigilance and reporting. National Night Out National Night Out is observed annually on the first Tuesday in August. It is a community police awareness-raising event in the United States. National Night Out was created to increase awareness about police programs in the communities. National Night Out Purpose : Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
