Historic Preservation
The City of West Point realizes the importance of preservation based revitalization. The West Point Central Business District is on the National Register of Historic Places. West Point has a historic preservation program that meets the federal and state guidelines making it a Certified Local Government. There is a Historic Preservation Commission that reviews the Historic Preservation Design Guidelines when reviewing any requested changes to the district. The Commission is active, meeting once a month to review any application to either deny or approve incoming Certificates of Appropriateness.
The Historic Preservation Commission meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month from 1:00-2:00 pm in the Conference Room at City Hall, 730 1st Avenue. All Board Meetings are open to the public.
