Animal Control / Code Enforcement

Animal Control/Code Enforcement

The Animal Control/Code Enforcement Officer is a civilian employee specially trained to handle animal and city ordinances complaints. Duties and responsibilities of the ACO's include investigating animal complaints, enforcing City Ordinances, and State Laws, picking up and impounding stray animals, educating the public, visiting the elementary school, patrolling the community, and providing assistance to police officers in animal related matters. The Animal Shelter is contracted to the Hamilton Animal Shelter.

The City of West Point Code Enforcement Section enforces codes and regulations that promote the health, safety and welfare of all citizens. The mission is to preserve the environment and beauty of our city.

Code Enforcement officers work with the residents, businesses and other organizations to:
  • Empower our community through education and awareness of city ordinances.
  • Facilitate complaints with city ordinances
  • Develop outreach programs

The officers do this by checking residences & business's for environmental issues (weeds, trash, etc), zoning issues (excessive storage, proper use of signs, etc.) parking issues, checking business license's and ensuring the proper building permits have been used.
